Laramie City Parks

Laramie has several parks that offer running paths.  Click here for a map of Laramie’s parks and trails and plans for future development.

Optimist Park/Greenbelt

The Laramie River Greenbelt offers 5.75 miles of paved trails, mostly following the Laramie River. The main trailhead is located at Optimist Park, where runners can go either north or south on the path. The Jackalope 5k and other races in town are held on the Greenbelt. The Greenbelt is also a favorite spot for runners in the Winter when the trails are snowed over. Click here for Greenbelt information.

Washington Park

Washington Park has a .78-mile paved loop around the perimeter of the park.  It is well-maintained and usually cleared of snow in the winter, making it a great spot for wintertime speedwork when other venues are sloppy or snow-covered.  Washington Park also has a 15-station fitness circuit course around the loop.

LaBonte Park

LaBonte Park is located at 5th & Canby, and offers a .63 mile flat paved trail that loops around the park.

LaPrele Park

LaPrele Park is located at 23rd & Spring Creek, and offers grass/dirt paths around the park.

Kiwanis Park

Kiwanis Park is located in West Laramie at Highway 130 & Wyoming. Kiwanis Park offers grassy fields that are great for running loops around or doing drills/sprints on a softer surface.

Undine Park

Undine Park is located at 5th & Ord, and is the starting point for the I Love Life 5k.

Local Race Course

Jackalope 5k

The Jackalope 5k is held in early April and is typically the first 5k of the season, complete with wind and snow. The course starts at Optimist Park and heads south, following the Greenbelt around the “lollipop” loop and back to Optimist Park to finish.Click here for a course map.

More coming soon!

Jacoby Golf Course 2-mile Loop

The Jacoby Golf Course is a public golf course on the northeast side of town and is maintained by the University of Wyoming Physical Plant.  The golf course has a dirt-road loop with a good mix of flat stretches and challenging hills.  The golf course is located east of 30th Street, between Willett Drive and E Gray Gables Road.

“Hospital Hill”

The hill leading east on Willett Drive between Jacoby Golf Course and Ivinson Memorial Hospital is a great long hill for hill repeats.  High Plains Harriers often holds Tuesday Night Hill workouts on Hospital Hill during the fall and/or winter.
